Sensei Foulon Sheppard
Sensei Foulon observed a class in August, 2008 at the Old Falls Dojo and joined soon after. He was promoted the first time on November 15, 2008. He took his black belt promotion July 20, 2013 at the Dresden Dojo, after finishing his training under the direction of Sensei Brad Seward and Sensei Dakota Burtnett.
Foulon's interest for the martial arts developed out of a desire to truly know himself, to be in control of himself, and to be able to defend himself. He was relatively small and quiet as a child and did take some teasing. However, the main benefit he was hoping to obtain from training was to help prepare him for a military career that he has dreamed of since he was three years old.
Currently, it looks like the U.S. Air Force is his destination. Foulon plans to either be a pilot, a PJ (paramedic jumper), or perhaps both. He realized that to succeed in the armed forces he would have to have a base of respect, self-obedience, and be willing to be challenged and see the challenge to conclusion. Foulon's participation in football, baseball, and track through the years has also helped. But, he believes that martial arts hold more of the key.
Being a child from a single parent home, the club helped provide additional structure and positive reinforcement. Foulon found role models to look up to who were accomplished and willing to support him in his own accomplishments. The effects of Foulon being part of Coszacks are undeniable, unalterable, and forever an unwavering source of encouragement and honor for him to draw on for the rest of his life.
